Human Resources
The employment practice of the firm is to engage, without discrimination, staff, both professional and non-professional, on permanent terms and conditions of service, subject to an early termination clause, in order to inculcate a sense of security of employment and dedication among the firms’ staff, without impairing staff mobility on the labour market.
FK Law Chambers enforces a clear dichotomy between Partners, on the one hand, and core support staff i.e. Associates/legal officers and Legal Secretaries, on the other. The latter-mentioned group answers directly to the Partner in charge of Human Resources but associates and legal officers are responsible to the portfolio Partner for their professional work. Currently the firm employs two associates and three legal officers.
The firm, being mostly composed of academic staff, believes that it is only through continuous education and research that skills are sharpened. Under this policy, the firm encourages all partners and legal staff to always attend continuous legal education and other training relevant to the firm’s practice areas conducted within and outside Tanzania. Also the firm has a policy of encouraging and assisting its eligible legal officers to obtain the requisite statutory qualifications for sitting for the bar exam and enrolling to bar.
